Theater Seat Divider

A design exploration for a collapsible and rapidly deployable seat divider for use by a family of theaters who wanted to give theatergoers peace of mind when returning to Broadway after the Covid 19 Pandemic.

The design proposed using a thin band of spring steel which would mount to an empty seat between groups of poeople. The curvature of spring steel would form an armature for a slip cover. This lightweight and collapsible divider could be quickly dispersed before shows based on ticket group sales, and would hang vertically taking up minimal closet space when not in use.

Ultimately, investments in air circulation and filtration proved more worthwhile.
